Personal Experiences while in the Bermuda Triangle

One of the more recent experiences involving unusual occurrences in the Bermuda Triangle was told by a Navy officer while aboard an American destroyer. He was on the bridge of the massive ship at 2 AM while cruising through the triangle. He states his compass stopped functioning correctly and so he called for the captain of the ship to come up. Before the captain got there the Navy officer saw a very bright light out in the distant water. There was no land nearby and the radar said there were no other boats in the area. Once the captain got up to the bridge he saw the compass was in fact not working he then tried to identify the light with a set of binoculars. The captain decided to stay on course and eventually the compass started working again and the light had disappeared. The story was, with time, given to the realm of acceptance.

Another one of the more interesting stories comes from Pat LeCates, her story takes place in about 1971. She says that not only did her compass start spinning and no longer pointing toward north, she says the 45 foot Pacemaker fishing boat's engines failed also. The only ones on the boat other than her were one other couple, her husband and her African Gray parrot. At one point while moving through the triangle, trying to return home to Marathon, she says "water spouts formed all around us, the sky turned grey, the twin engines shut off and the waves became violent." She also talks about the boat felt like it was going to break apart and how there was water pouring into the 45 foot boat, well above the crew's heads. She saved her bird by moving its cage and tried to help the captain (her husband) keep the ship afloat. And then, just as quickly as it started, she says that “it just stopped.” The half hour experience was over, and the boat's engines started working again. It took until November 19th, 2010 for her to ever mention the story again.
